To address this growing need for action-oriented opportunities which will put lead on the proverbial target to stem the tide of the job-killing, freedom-threatening, Obama/Pelosi/Reid agenda both locally and nationally, Grassroots in Michigan and the Lansing, MI TEA Party are pleased to announce the launch of the Mobile Action Patriot Strikeforce, or M.A.P.S.

The mission of M.A.P.S is two-fold
1. To educate Tea Party activists
2. Provide Tea Party Manpower to vetted Constitutional Candidates

We have constructed a list of questions HERE that we supply candidates. We then grade the answers to determine providing manpower

As the TEA Party Movement has never been “one-size-fits-all,” some TEA Party activists may choose to engage directly with their local political party, while others may choose to work directly with specific campaigns. M.A.P.S provides a unique opportunity for Constitutional Conservative grassroots activists to come together, as folks did to elect Scott Brown,to provide a manpower boost when and where it is most needed. In doing so, we insure that our principles and values are being advanced in the places that matter most.

Joan Fabiano, activist and Tea Party organizer will join the Michigan leg of the Tea Party Express III “Vote Them Out” Tour. Fabiano is a retired General Motors employee and United Auto Workers Union member now running a small business part-time. She has lived in the state of Michigan, once considered the automotive capital of the world, throughout her life.

Ms. Fabiano has been an active citizen, engaging in the political process both online as a blogger and on the grassroots level within Michigan. She is among the “pioneers” of the tea party movement, having organized the event held at the State Capitol on February 27, 2009, which occurred simultaneously with those in 40 other cities. Soon after she founded the citizen activist group, Grassroots in Michigan.

Tea Party Express Coordinator, Joe Wierzbicki, extended the invitation to Fabiano, “We were inspired and impressed by Joan’s passion, her diligence and determined efforts to return our country and her state to a Constitutional government. We are happy to have her join our family here on the Tea Party Express bus for our tour through Michigan.”

Senator Mike Johanns asked consent today to strike the special carve-outs from the Senate health care bill. Democrats immediately objected, thwarting the effort.

“There should be no special deals, no carve-outs for anyone in this health care bill; not for states, not for insurance companies, not for individual senators.

“All of the special deals should be removed. If the bill cannot pass without carve-outs, what further evidence is needed that it is bad policy? No senator should vote for the final cloture vote until all of the carve-outs and special deals are removed.

“Nebraskans don’t want a special deal, they want good policy. They don’t believe the Federal Government is the answer to every problem and they don’t like backroom deals.”

Below is a sample of special deals he offered to strike:

SIDEBAR: Michigan House-Senate Conference Committee, which is looking for ways to erase a $2.8 billion budget deficit for fiscal 2010, is considering imposing a 3 percent Gross provider tax on more than 15,000 physicians who practice in the state.

The possible physician tax, known as a Quality Assurance Assessment Program fee, would be used to increase federal matching share dollars for the state’s Medicaid program. For every $1 the state raises, the federal government matches with another $1.72.

If this tax is implemented the affect will be many doctors leaving the state and result in a reduced quality of care for Michigan citizens. How many have we lost in recent years? Something close to 500,000 of our best educated and most skilled people. “Taxed to Death” takes on an ominous meaning here..

This has already passed the House (HB 5386) and will be headed for the Senate
as SB 0854
